RV Business Magazine Announces 100 Most Influential People in the History of the RV Industry

July 6, 2010

VENTURA, CALIF. (July 7, 2010)RV Business magazine has published the definitive list of the RV industry’s key movers and shakers over its first century. The “100 Most Influential People in the History of the RV Industry” appears in the May/June issue of RV Business and online at www.RVBUSINESS.com. It is featured as part of the magazine’s coverage of the RV industry’s centennial in 2010.

The list contains details of leaders from across all areas of RVing – from Wally Byam, who designed the iconic Airstream and is credited as being one of the fathers of the “RV lifestyle” – to aviation pioneer Glenn Curtis, who developed the fifth-wheel hitch.

To ensure that the listing was as complete as possible, RV Business worked with a number of sources to identify the top 100 industry influencers. In addition to assembling its own in-house listing, based on editors’ encyclopedic knowledge of RVing, RV Business’ staff consulted with industry insiders to compile the selection. RV Business also invited website visitors to contribute nominees’ names and worked with experts from the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind., to select several pioneers from the industry’s early days.

“The challenge for us wasn’t in naming the obvious candidates, legendary industry pioneers like John K. Hanson of Winnebago, Dick Klingler of Holiday Rambler or John Crean of Fleetwood, all three of whom are profiled separately in our ‘Most Influential’ editorial package,” said Sherman Goldenberg, publisher of RV Business. “The difficulty was in dealing with the other 90 slots because it seems like, for every individual we felt belonged on that list, there were two to three others who also deserved inclusion.

“There are many, high profile, established industry players who would have been automatic if only we could have expanded the list to, say, the most influential 110 or 125. Many of those individuals who didn’t make the list should know that they are ‘works in progress.’ They are people who by the time they retire will more than likely be slam dunk nominees for the next century’s most influential listing,” concluded Goldenberg.

The full list of the top100 influencers is in the May/June issue of RV Business and is available as a PDF download on the www.RVBUSINESS.com website.
